Just relax. You just ended your cross country season. If you end one season and go right into another you’ll be vulnerable to burn out. This means that you could peak too early or you may not be able to perform at your optimal level at all. Your body needs to recover from such a strenuous season. Taking 1 week off will not kill you. It might make you feel a little sluggish the first couple of days of practice but trust when I say, your body needs that transition time between all three seasons (x-country, indoor and outdoor).
You should be fine. Just to reiterate some of the other answers, correct nutrition will go far to help your body to maintain its levels of fitness. Your next run may feel uphill all the way, but in general reversability of fitness is measured in weeks and months rather than days. If you are in any doubt, ease yourself back into it by starting with slightly shorter runs and building back up. This happens in no time and will not overstress the body, avoiding excessive tiredness etc afterwards.
No you will not loose any fitness!!! Take the break and enjoy yourself! The first run will feel a bit week but it will only take a few days to get it back.
Like the other posters said the weak off will do you good. It will give you time to heal and recover, you’ll be stronger because of the break.

NOOOOOOOOOO….If your body is in good shape, then it will stay that way…..I mean if you took 6 months off and ate really bad food, the u would lose something but not no week….

Here is the truth, any athelte will lose fitness not after a week but after 3 days. It has been proven that you lose speed, endurance, cardiovascular ability, and able to breath (aerobically) So yes you will lose fitness but it wont be that hard to gain it back. So, you jsut have to start over as if you havent run at all but htis time you will regain your fitness quickly.
