It probably has a screw loose. You must be in top shape physically, why don’t you exercise your mind now by trying to fix it? Turn it over and take a screwdriver to it.
Probably worn bearings due to use – you may be able to have it ‘serviced’ to replace worn parts and return to nearly new.
This happens to the cross trainer in my Gym every few months and it is fixed by a call out. May be expensive though!

It definitely sounds like your bearings have worn down, or your track has become damaged or misaligned. Also, if you’ve moved the treadmill, the rear shrouds do get pushed in sometimes which can interfere with the movement of the pedals (this happens a lot and is a very easy fix). Take a look at the case and see if it is pushing in — you can pull it out and away from the flywheel and move the pedals to test the problem.
