Since it’s so hard to train in the winter you might want to do cross country skiing, ice skating (indoor or out) or hit the gym and cross train with weights, yoga, martial arts, cycling, elliptical, tread mill, rock climbing, etc.

I live in WI and have run through many a snow storms and other crazy cold weather conditions…although I wouldn’t highly recommend it. I have never been hurt before minus a few tiny falls. Run on a treadmill if it’s really icy out. If the ice evaporated and you’re like me and HATE treadmills and don’t mind a little cold, running outside is ok. Just be careful and don’t do sprints unless you’re sure you won’t fall. If it’s dark out, run in a safe neighborhood and wear reflective clothing. Maybe carry a cell phone with you just in case something happens. I think running in the cold weather is awesome and it really builds up your confidence once you get to spring track or whatever you do because you know you braved all those cold conditions. Most importantly have fun and run carefully!
